Meet Mercedes: Dental Assistant, Super Mom of 3, and Marguerite’s Place Graduate!
Mercedes moved to Marguerite’s Place in 2011 as a new mother in need of support. As she remembers: “I became a resident of Marguerite’s Place as a single mother of a little boy, a little boy I had to be there for. With all of the love, support, and structure, Marguerite’s Place gave me not just a place to call my own back then, but a family for a lifetime. My son was enrolled in Marguerite’s Place childcare while I was able to achieve my goals. Being able to finish school and save up to move forward in their program to the condo was such a blessing.”
While at Marguerite’s Place, Mercedes got her degree as a Dental Assistant and found not just a job, but a career she loved. She successfully moved onto her own apartment and has maintained that home and stability for her family since graduating from Marguerite’s Place housing.
Despite no longer needing our transitional supports, Mercedes has continued to engage in the Marguerite’s Place community. When it came time to find childcare for her youngest daughter, Milani, she chose to return back to Marguerite’s Place:
“Currently 8+ years later, I have a successful career, I am a mother of 3 incredible kids, and I’m back at Marguerite’s Place with my baby girl currently enrolled in their childcare. It gives me such peace of mind knowing she is in the most loving hands while I am able to provide for my babies.”
After successfully launching from our programs, many residents move onto the busy, next stage of their career and family lives, and we only hear from them so often. It is incredibly special for our team to continue to support Mercedes’ family, and for her to choose us as her childcare program of choice.
The impact of Marguerite’s Place remains for Mercedes and her family. As she explains, “When anyone asks how I did it, I tell them how thankful I am to have had Marguerite’s Place. They gave me an opportunity of a lifetime! All of their programs they have to offer are just incredible.”
